March 2019 Amazon Try On

I received such a positive response from the last Amazon try on that I decided this would become a regular occurrence!  I am having so much fun finding pieces for every occasion and love that all of these pieces can be dressed up, and down.

Blouse | Tank (similar) | Slacks | Flats

As promised after my instastories today, here is the outfit I shared along with the links located above.

Please note, the slacks are on SALE!  I have had these pants stashed away in my closet for what seems like forever and I dug them out when I could finally fit into them…now they’re a tad bit too big so I may have to take advantage of the sale – Lord knows I can’t bring myself to pay full price on anything!

All The Pretty Girls: A Book Review

Back at it with another book review!  I have been working my way through the Taylor Jackson novels and this is the second novel in the series…it did not disappoint!

All the Pretty Girls as described by Amazon:

“Nashville Homicide lieutenant Taylor Jackson is working to catch a serial rapist after a local girl falls prey to a sadistic killer. The Southern Strangler is slaughtering his way through the Southeast, leaving a gruesome memento at each crime scene—the prior victim’s severed hand. Taylor finds herself in a joint investigation with her lover, FBI profiler Dr. John Baldwin, as they pursue the vicious murderer.

Ambitious TV reporter Whitney Connolly is certain the Southern Strangler is her ticket out of Nashville; she’s got a scoop that could break the case. But she has no idea how close to this story she really is—or what it will cost her.

Battling an old injury and her own demons, Taylor is desperate to quell the rising tide of bodies. But as the killer spirals out of control, everyone involved must face a horrible truth—the purest evil is born of private lies.”

My personal review of the book:

First of all, although this is the second book in the Taylor Jackson novels, this is not necessarily a continuation of a complete story line.  Think of it like a TV series where you have the same characters, but, there are different story lines.  For instance, this book provided a continuation of Taylor’s relationship with Baldwin (pretty cute by the way) and all of her co-worker’s.  They case(s) that they take on in this book is far different from the first novel.  There are essentially two in one for this novel.  I don’t normally like to feel like I’m bouncing back and forth in a book, but, this one flowed so well that it was easy to follow and not get things mixed up.  I will say that as things ramped up in the end and they were about to catch the Southern Strangler my eyes widened as I listened to who it was in the book.  I think in the back of my mind I kind of knew who it was, but, it still had a ‘NO WAY” moment.

I really did enjoy this book and recommend the series for anyone that enjoy crime related genres.  I have taken a little break from the series to listen to another book that I’ve been dying to dive into – stay tuned for that review.  Once that one is finished, I will pick up where I left off with the third novel!

Amazon Try-On: Activewear and Loungewear

this post contains affiliate links

Happy Tuesday, friends!  I am so excited (and nervous) to share this post with you.  This is my first try-on session since losing 40 lbs. so me working myself up to this point was a process to say the least…also, please excuse my dirty mirror – it has since been cleaned lol.  I truly do love the pieces that I am sharing with you all today, and hope you can follow along on my Instastories to see these items in action!

Each piece is affordable and fit within the activewear/loungewear category which are my absolute favorite!

SUNNYME Women Long Short Sleeve Shirts Blouses

90-Degree by Reflex High Waisted/Tummy Control Legging – these leggings were worn with each outfit.

Mae Women’s Loungewear Drapey Cardigan

RBX Active Women’s Ultra-Soft Quilted Cowl Neck Pullover

Women’s Fall O Side Split Loose Casual Pullover

Items that were also purchased and will be returned:

Mae Women’s Floral Lace Multi-Strap Bralette – although this bralette is beautiful, it was extremely uncomfortable (for me personally).  The quality is great, but, I can’t justify keeping something that I just will not enjoy wearing.

Hiking the Hill

Jacket | Tank | Jeggings | Booties

I celebrated my 36th birthday yesterday…36 isn’t so bad, really.  I’m still “under the hill” as I say jokingly…so I’m currently hiking it!  I have found that over the years I have become more aware of who I am as a mother, a wife, and a person – I can honestly say I truly do love the person I am today.  I have a wonderful family, a great job, and this awesome little space on the internet where I get to share things I am passionate about with the world.  I received a TON of birthday wishes yesterday and I want to personally say that the love is overwhelming, and truly heartwarming – for that, I thank you!

On another note…my entire outfit in this post is on SALE.  My favorite 4-letter word!  Below are the ways you can snag each of these items for way under the asking price!

Jacket – use the code BIG to get an additional 20% off of a sale price that’s already 50% off!  This sale ends on 2/24/19 so run fast!

Tank – use the code MORE to get 30% off (the entire site in this case).

Jeggings – all jeans are BOGO 50% off site wide so now is the time to jump on your favorite styles.  The jeggings are my current favorite because they flatter all figures!

Booties – currently 20% off making them less than $100 and are well worth the investment.  I LOVE these booties so much!

Treat yo’ self!

Viking Inspired Hair Tutorial

Happy Thursday, friends!  The week is almost over, and I am one day away from my birthday!!  It’s all so very exciting!

I have been trying more fun styles with my hair lately now that my length will allow it and have been loving finding simple ways to add a little something extra to my hairstyle for the day.  I wore my hair like this yesterday and received a ton of compliments (from the husband especially because he instantly told me I looked like Lagertha) so I wanted to share the look with you today.  The fact that it literally takes maybe 2 minutes to achieve, and only requires your hands, and a few bobbi pins is even better right??

The easiest was I can describe how to do this look is:

  • Use day 2 or 3 curls.  I can generally go a few days without having to use dry shampoo in my hair, but, may need to touch up a few random curls once I have styled it initially with a 1″ curling iron.  If you need dry shampoo on your roots I suggest doing that step prior to styling.
  • I pulled back two small sections of hair (hence the 2 bobbi pins shown above) using one edge of the pin to act as a tool to section off the hair.  Once I have grabbed the amount of hair I wanted for the top section, I pinned that back first.  The motion I use to pin back is the have the edge that opens up pointing toward your face as it hugs against your scalp – so the bobbi pin will look like this >.  You then push the bobbi pin into the section of hair to hold it in place.
  • Repeat the second step with as many sections as you wish!

It’s super easy to do, and will stay in place all day.  Is this a look you would try?

Cherry Blossom: An Affordable Makeup Tutorial

Happy Sunday, friends!  You’ve been asking for simple and affordable makeup looks, and I have officially put one together for you.

You may have remembered me doing a “show and tell” Instastory on my Instagram page, and that included all drugstore brands.  I did have an eyebrow pencil in there with high hopes that it would be an awesome dupe for other high end brands I’ve used…sadly, this was not the case.  Legit, the disappointment was real.  The color was incredibly orange for what should have been a “light brown,” the shape of the pencil wasn’t conducive for the shape of my brown, and it did not apply well.  Basically, it was a fail and I chose not to use it in this tutorial – I switched it out for my usual high end product that cannot live without!

I hope you enjoy the video, and you can check out the list of products listed in the video description!

Put A Bow On It

Shirt | Jeans | Shoes | Sunglasses | Watch | Watch Band

I have always been a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl; I feel my best in casual clothing.  We may be currently battling with Mother Nature not knowing what the heck she wants to do on a daily basis, but, you better believe I was going to get these shots in no matter how cold I was, haha. #commitment

I’m still loving these jeggings – I now own a few pairs at this point.  God forbid this style is discontinued.  This “basic tee” has a little extra flair with a bow at the elbows which I personally love because it can be dressed up, or, down.  It’s a soft cotton and very comfortable.  The boat neck detail is very flattering to any type of figure, and it’s on sale too!  I can’t live without my Chuck’s so I dusted these guys off to pair them with this outfit for a simple, and casual look.

What outfits, or, items of clothing make you feel most comfortable?

Valentine’s Day Gift Guide for Her

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and it’s time to get your girl, or, friend a gift!  Don’t get me wrong, I love flowers and chocolate, but, I prefer to receive gifts that will provide me with enjoyment for longer than a few days (minutes really when chocolate is involved).  Whether you’re treating yourself, or, a loved one this gift guide has a little something for everyone!

Transitioning Your Winter Wardrobe on a Budget

Cardigan | Tank | Jeans | Bag | Shoes

Some days I really wish that I could just wear jeans and sneakers to work.  Know what I mean?  I feel my best when I’m comfortable and keeping it casual is my jam. If you’re someone that loves casual wear, and are looking to transition your Winter wardrobe into your Spring wardrobe without spending a ton of cash, these pieces are for you!

I am in love with these jeggings because they hug in all the right places, have incredible stretch, and flatter any figure.  I can’t say that they’re necessarily budget friendly because that’s subjective, but, $50 for a pair of good jeans is worth it to me.  Pair these leggings with these fun sneakers gives the outfit a little something extra.  These sneakers are comfortable and on SALE to boot!  Helllloooooo BOGO!  You can’t beat that!

Target has such an awesome selection of cardigans with matching (or mismatching if that’s your thing) tanks.  They wear well, wash well, and don’t break the bank!

My newest favorite piece is this bag by Madewell.  Never in my life did I think I would love any brand other than Coach.  I was SO wrong!  This bag is ginormous, has a versatile canvas material that goes well with just about any outfit, and the price point is right where I like it; affordable!

Are you ready to transition your wardrobe into Spring?
